For this assignment, I utilized Canva to edit my video, aiming to create a seamless and engaging narrative. I began by meticulously gathering my images and videos and drafting a script that outlined the structure and flow of my video. This initial planning phase was crucial in ensuring that each element aligned with the overall vision I had for the project. Once the assets and script were ready, I started the compilation process. I added music, with each season receiving a unique, soft tune that corresponded to its specific motif. This not only enhanced the mood but also provided a coherent auditory experience as viewers transitioned from one season to the next. To visually represent the seasons, I created title and ending slides using gifs from Canva's online library. These slides depicted all four seasons, providing a cohesive framework for the video. I incorporated transitions between stills, differentiating between inter-seasonal and intra-seasonal shifts, adhering to the coherence principle to maintain the viewer's attention and understanding. I employed the contiguity principle by compiling multiple images into single stills, creating various talking points and examples. This technique helped in presenting complex information in a more digestible format. Additionally, I used several imaging animations, including the Ken Burns "panning and zooming" effect, to keep the audience engaged and focused on the visual content.
The narration process was the final touch to my project. I alternated between moments of talking head and straightforward narration, providing a dynamic and varied viewing experience. I utilized Canva’s captioning feature to ensure accessibility and clarity. After finalizing the video, I downloaded it from Canva and uploaded it to YouTube, selecting an appropriate thumbnail to attract viewers. Overall, this project was challenging yet rewarding. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and enhanced my skills in video editing and animation, teaching me the importance of patience and attention to detail.
