For this assignment, I designed the background scene in Canva. I incorporated place value blocks from Carrie Lutz’s clip art to visually represent the numbers. First, I created the introduction scene, with implementation of transitions between scenes and to add visual appeal. I next had the number 143 appear and then had each number transition to its place on the place value chart, ensuring that text appeared and then faded out smoothly. To further explain the concept, I had each place value block transition in and then transition to its spot on the number chart, I did this for all three place values. As an additionally visual medium, I had the numbers change colors to match the different color place value blocks. At the end, I added sounds, a voiceover, and captions to make sure that my project could appeal to all types of learners.

Overall, I found this project to be the most frustrating, as I did not enjoy the self-creation and struggled with creating the animation lines. I am incredibly familiar with PowerPoint and wanted the animations and animator software to work like they do in PowerPoint, just click and animate. For this project, there was the creation of paths and layers, very similar to the early photoshopping project. Despite the frustrations, I found that pushing through these challenges ultimately helped me grow as a designer. The complexity of creating animation paths and layers required me to develop a deeper understanding of animation principles and the tools at my disposal. As I progressed, I began to appreciate the precision and control offered by the animation software, which allowed me to bring my vision to life in a way that PowerPoint could not. This project taught me valuable lessons in patience, persistence, and adaptability. It also highlighted the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new tools and techniques, no matter how daunting they may seem at first.
